Like a bull in a china shop, this rock band is here to break the preconceived ideas of what South African rock music should sound like.

Bonfire Buffalo hail from the heartlands of S.A, this female fronted rock band consists of Ivy Ann van Rooyen on vocals, Ewoud van Rooyen on guitar and Carl Dedekind on bass. Mike Wright of Zebra & Giraffe fame, on drums.

The band draws influence from artists diverse and universal including Pink Floyd, Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Mumford & Sons, Zebra & Giraffe, Kaleo, Mango Groove and more, the band came together to create their experimental blend of melodic / indie rock.

Although newly formed in 2016, the bands’ members are no stranger to the music scene, having already performed with Prime Circle, Evolver, Fokofpolisiekar, Zebra & Giraffe, R.K.O and many others!

Bonfire Buffalo just released their debut EP, which features 6 tracks of the best indie pop rock ever heard in South Africa. Their debut single “Back in School” has been met with great acclaim and success, having been playlisted on the country’s top radio stations! The EP was recorded at Open Room Productions / Mini Beast Records and was produced by Greg Carlin (Zebra & Giraffe).

The band’s eclectic mix of songs are fresh and familiar at the same time, with absolutely addictive melodies!
